This Thinline custom has a comfort contour shaped into the back, a feature not found on normal Telecasters

 

 

The body is left now while attention is turned to making the neck. This is the Maple as bought in, showing the perpendicular grain of the 1/4 sawn wood.   This is more expensive because it's quite wasteful in the way it's cut from the tree, but it's less prone to warping - a very important factor for neck wood

The neck wood is then clamped into a jig ready to have the truss rod slot routed out.  This is a double acting truss rod shown in the photo
