Lillooet to Whistler
For stunning scenery I think this may possibly be the most fantastic road that I've had the pleasure to drive, every turn brings another stunning view. The only thing that could possibly have made it better would be if I was doing it on a bike.......Fabulous!

That's a railway line at the
bottom of this shot!

This shot was taken at the
other side of Whistler on the Sea to Sky Highway
Back to Vancouver

Main Street, Vancouver
For our last few days in Canada we're just going to chill out in Vancouver, We've not really explored the downtown area properly yet so we'll start with a trip to Gastown, one of the old quarters of the city. We have been warned about the down and outs that congregate around there and advised not to stray out of Gastown into the more rundown areas, but here we are near that end of town with a couple of unwashed type folk coming towards us........a him and a her, both look as rough as a bears arse. She's giving him a right old earbashing and as they draw closer to us she lets rip with torrent of foul mouthed abuse at her scruffy looking counterpart. She then realises that Wee Jim has heard it all and, puts her hand over her mouth and looking very sheepish apologises to her - We just cracked up! Even down and outs here have a sense of decency it seems.

Float Planes
Float planes play a very big part in the life of Vancouverites, many parts of BC are only accessible by air / water. Watching them take off and land becomes one of my favourite pastimes here, usually from a bench somewhere in Stanley Park. The drone of the engines becomes part of the city's "voice" - always in the background. Such is life here, the little float plane airport run by Harbour Air is ever busy with planes taking off and landing by the minute. We were disappointed that we can't book a flight, we try but it seems pleasure flights can only be taken at certain times and we're off back home soon - ah well, something to look forward to next time I suppose.

Not sure what models they are but they're DeHavillands

And Finally........
For
the petrolheads, a few of the many custom / classic American cars seen in Canada on our
travels - we didn't always have the camera to hand but we managed to get a few
opportune shots

Bit o' T Cut and it'll be right

..........And of course it
wouldn't be complete without a couple of bikes, I thought this would make an
nice evocative picture!
Plus I was so jealous of these guys, (I've never been jealous of anyone with a
Goldwing before)This was taken on the the road
from Lillooet to Whistler.

And this guy was in Victoria
Well, that's about it from Canada, If you're mad enough to have got this far then I hope you enjoyed the photos. The camera used for most shots was a Canon A650 which I bought to replace my ageing an increasingly unreliable Sony DSC-P8 before we left for Canada. I'm not terribly chuffed with the Canon, a lot of the shots look a bit "noisy" (grainy) at anything over ISO100 - the Sony was far better in that respect. As much as I don't want to I may have to consider returning to an SLR before any more big trips. The shots taken in the kayaks were done using Wee Jim's cheap and cheerful Pentax Optio because I didn't want to drop my camera in the water..........of course I never told her that!
